Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced SQL Developer with strong expertise in requirements analysis, data investigation, SQL, Snowflake, data quality, and regulatory reporting. The role involves analyzing business requirements, investigating data issues, validating business rules, and working closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders to support data-driven projects.
Key Skills & Responsibilities
Requirements Analysis & Documentation
- Translate business problems, Jira tickets, Confluence material, and existing documentation into structured requirements.
- Map business rules, data requirements, user scenarios, and critical data elements clearly and consistently.
- Identify gaps, assumptions, and inconsistencies in requirements and support pragmatic solutions.
- Document and map high-level and low-level requirements for reconciliation projects.
- Reconcile information captured in Jira, Confluence, and other internal documentation.
Data Analysis & Investigation
- Analyze data extracts, investigate unexpected outcomes, and identify root causes.
- Use analytical evidence to validate populations, customer segments, business rules, and reconciliation results.
- Produce clear findings for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Investigate duplicate responses, cohort results, and scenario outcomes.
SQL, Snowflake & Technical Data Understanding
- Write and review SQL for data analysis, validation, and investigation in Snowflake or similar data platforms.
- Write and review Snowflake SQL for data analysis and exploration.
- Understand how business logic is implemented across data pipelines, source systems, and code repositories.
- Trace data logic through Oracle data, Snowflake transformations, and GitLab/GitHub code where required.
- Identify the logic required in Snowflake to create customer segments.
Data Quality, Controls & Regulatory Reporting
- Assess data quality checks against business rules and operational requirements.
- Compare data quality checks performed during ETL pipelines against defined business rules.
- Confirm that data quality checks do not incorrectly exclude records required for business processes.
- Support the design and sign-off of preventive controls and dashboard monitoring.
- Support production, validation, and peer review of FCA reporting extracts and supporting evidence.
- Assist in producing data extracts for FCA reports and validate reporting figures.
Spreadsheet Analysis & Reporting
- Use Excel to analyze extracts, maintain structured workbooks, and produce traceable validation evidence.
- Create pivot tables, supporting commentary, and stakeholder-friendly summaries.
- Analyze commission classifications, including DIC, DSM, and ADCA.
- Keep workbook references, formatting, and supporting documentation up to date.
Stakeholder & Project Support
- Attend requirements, validation, UAT, handover, and stand-up meetings.
- Convert meeting discussions and transcripts into clear requirements and action items.
- Follow up on outstanding decisions with relevant stakeholders.
- Provide regular progress updates and maintain clear records of assumptions, dependencies, and decisions.
- Collaborate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and project teams.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of relevant experience in SQL, data analysis, or data-focused roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with SQL and Snowflake.
- Good understanding of data pipelines, ETL processes, and data quality.
- Experience working with Oracle data and source systems.
- Ability to analyze complex datasets and investigate data issues.
- Experience with Jira and Confluence.
- Familiarity with GitLab/GitHub and understanding of code repositories.
- Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and data analysis.
- Understanding of requirements gathering, documentation, and validation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting regulatory reporting, particularly FCA reporting.
- Experience with reconciliation projects and data quality controls.
- Knowledge of customer segmentation and business-rule validation.
- Exposure to UAT, production validation, and peer-review processes.
- Experience in financial services or insurance domains is an added advantage.
