Role Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Software Engineer with strong expertise in Python, SQL, AWS, enterprise integrations, and event-driven architecture. The role involves designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting enterprise-grade applications, APIs, microservices, and cloud solutions.
The ideal candidate should combine strong software development skills with technical leadership, production troubleshooting, code reviews, mentoring, CI/CD, automated testing, and engineering best practices to build secure, scalable, observable, and maintainable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Application Development & Technical Leadership
- Lead hands-on development of enterprise applications, APIs, microservices, and backend services using Python.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain production-grade solutions while contributing code throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Drive complex implementations through technical design, coding, peer reviews, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Establish coding standards, reusable patterns, and practical engineering best practices.
Python & SQL Development
- Develop cloud-native applications using Python, REST APIs, asynchronous programming, dependency injection, and secure coding practices.
- Build efficient data-access layers and optimize SQL, stored procedures, transactions, and database performance.
- Work with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and other enterprise data platforms.
- Modernize legacy applications through incremental and testable improvements.
AWS Cloud & Event-Driven Architecture
- Design and implement cloud-native solutions using AWS managed services.
- Work with Lambda, ECS/Fargate, API Gateway, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, IAM, and Secrets Manager.
- Build event-driven solutions using EventBridge, SNS, and SQS.
- Implement event contracts, routing, retries, dead-letter queues, idempotency, replay, and observability patterns.
Enterprise Integration & API Development
- Design, develop, and support REST APIs, SOAP services, internal interfaces, and third-party integrations.
- Integrate applications with platforms such as Salesforce, Workday, NetSuite, LMS, ERP, commerce, and payment systems.
- Implement secure authentication, validation, versioning, rate limiting, error handling, logging, and lifecycle controls.
- Develop reusable service clients, integration utilities, and technical documentation.
DevOps, Testing & Production Operations
- Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and release controls using GitHub and GitHub Actions.
- Develop unit, integration, API, regression, and performance tests.
- Implement logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards, alerts, and runbooks.
- Participate in deployments, incident response, root-cause analysis, and production defect resolution.
AI, Automation & Engineering Productivity
- Use approved AI coding assistants and automation tools for development, testing, documentation, troubleshooting, and analysis.
- Apply appropriate human review, security, testing, and validation to AI-assisted outputs.
- Explore agentic programming patterns where appropriate while maintaining engineering rigor, security, and accountability.
Mentoring & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Mentor developers through pair programming, code reviews, technical demonstrations, and hands-on problem solving.
- Collaborate with Product, QA, Architecture, Platform Engineering, Security, Infrastructure, Data, and application teams.
- Contribute to estimation, sprint planning, technical roadmaps, and delivery risk management.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of professional software development experience, including strong enterprise application development using Python.
- Deep knowledge of Python Web APIs, asynchronous development, dependency injection, and automated testing.
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, including serverless, containers, APIs, storage, databases, monitoring, identity, and secrets.
- Strong experience with event-driven architecture using EventBridge, SNS, SQS, or comparable messaging technologies.
- Extensive experience developing and consuming REST APIs, SOAP services, and enterprise integrations.
- Strong knowledge of SQL, ODBC connectivity, relational databases, and production data integrations.
- Experience designing secure, scalable, highly available, and observable distributed systems.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD, automated testing, deployment, and production incident response.
- Ability to mentor engineers through hands-on collaboration.
- Experience using AI-assisted and agentic programming tools responsibly within the software development lifecycle.
Preferred Skills
- AWS Developer, Solutions Architect, or comparable cloud certification.
- Experience with Lambda, ECS/Fargate, API Gateway, EventBridge, SNS, SQS, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, and Secrets Manager.
- Experience integrating Salesforce, Workday, NetSuite, Boomi, LMS, ERP, commerce, or payment platforms.
- Experience with Kafka or other enterprise event-streaming platforms.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, containerization, distributed tracing, and automated security scanning.
- Experience in SaaS, professional education, e-commerce, financial operations, healthcare, or high-volume transactional environments.
